Summer brings family fun and festivals
Louisiana's summers are a time for family, fun and festivals. My previous post detailed the Bayou Country Superfest in Baton Rouge--a festival in its second year that features the biggest names in country music. The Memorial Day weekend festival didn't disappoint; about 80,000 people enjoyed the music and fanfare in LSU's Tiger Stadium.
Following an energetic performance by Trace Adkins, I had the opportunity to address the tens of thousands in attendance and our troops overseas watching and listening to the festival via American Forces network. Our troops were greeted by a roaring crowd, thankful for their service to our great country. The meaning of the holiday weekend wasn't lost in the music but highlighted in passionate songs about being a patriot and remembering our fallen and wounded heroes.
Louisiana is a place where we love music--jazz, blues, zydeco, swamp pop, gospel, R&B and country. We also love to celebrate life and all the things that make Louisiana unique. We have more than 400 festivals each year, celebrating everything from alligators to zydeco. Please come visit soon and pick your passion at one of our fantastic festivals.
